You do not need to arrive with a solution, a service category, or a spec. Knowing what is broken, or what you want to be possible, is enough to start.
What we will ask
What the outcome is worth. Who owns the decision. What access we would have to the people and systems involved. Whether the timeline and budget are real.
What happens next
If there is a case worth pursuing, we scope paid discovery. If there is not, we will say so in the first conversation rather than the fourth.

We will tell you, and where we can, we will tell you who is the right one. That costs us nothing and saves you a quarter.
